20 Weeks

I've been feeling much better since I went to the hospital. I got a little sick a couple days in the week after, but that's it. Now, I'm just fat and uncomfortable! And hot! I have no idea how I'm going to make it through the summer if I'm already cooking when it's only in the 50s and 60s! At today's prenatal visit, I measured 28 weeks. One thing my doctor mentioned was that at my 28-week appointment, we'll be talking about putting me on bed rest. It's not a matter of if, but when.

The really big news was that I had my first ultrasound appointment with the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists and we found out what we're having! 2 more girls! Everything looked good at the ultrasound. Both babies weigh 12 ounces each, which is right on target for 20 weeks. They didn't measure their lengths, just individual body parts, but everything was where it's supposed to be. They are definitely active little girls! They were all over the place, and we almost left with "I think one of the babies might possibly be a girl" for an answer, but luckily she flipped around at the last minute, so they were able to clearly see that she's a girl. Now we have to seriously think of names, so we need ideas. The first initials have to be C and E.

One interesting thing about the ultrasound was that there's a possibility they'll be identical. They are in separate sacs, but it's not clear whether the two placentas fused together or if there was only one all along. If they fused together, they're fraternal. If there's only one, they're identical. Unfortunately, they can't know for sure until they're born, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Pictures tomorrow!

Two more girls, Woot! Congratulations!!
Okay I must know why they have to be C and E names?

Rachael, you're freaking me out! I've been thinking of names for a ittle while and two on the short list for girl names are Cara and Ella!

As for why C and E, it's because I'm crazy. We already have Abby, Brandi, and Damon. When Abby was a baby, I found a stocking with a pretty embroidered "A" on it at Target. Since then, I've had it in my head that I want to get stockings embroidered for the rest of us and decided the next baby had to have a name that started with a C. Since we're having twins, I've expanded it to C and E. That way, the stockings will say "A, B, C, D, and E." Seriously, Christmas stockings are the only reason I'm limiting us to 2 letters in the alphabet!

I think that the identical/fraternal question still leaves a little bit of mystery for the delivery!

Beautiful names, btw!

A house full of girls! I love Cara and Ella, or Ellie. Ironically, my top two names for girls (if we have any more) are Cecilia and Erin. You could have Cecilia and Emilia! Chloe, Eve and Eva are cute too. Evangeline, Emerson, Elise. Thanks for giving me a new obsession! You could use Claire something and E-something Abigail to have big sis' name in there. Okay, shut me up now!

There will be so much estrogen in your home!! Is Damon ready for that?!?

As for names, I have a friend naming her girl Emelia and I love it! I'm also a fan of Claire. Good luck with the names!

Thanks for the name suggestions!

Tali, Damon's excited about two more girls. He jokes that he's surrounded by women at work, so it was inevitable he'd be outnumbered at home too.

I seriously love the ABCDE idea! You are so cool. I wish we had done something cool like that. Although the jump between J and R would require more than the 2 kids John is willing to let me have sooo.
Cara is a name I have begged John to let me use. My sister is Kara with a K. I just have always wanted to name a baby after her, but I like it with a C better. Ella is just stinking cute. I can totally picture a little girl that looks like her big sister Abby named Ella.
